Marlins announce transition to paperless ticketing

Fan Enhancements to Transform Sports Ticketing Experience through Digital Technology

MIAMI - The Marlins have announced a transition to paperless ticketing, a transformative technological advancement that will allow fans a level of convenience unprecedented in the South Florida market. Marlins fans will now have the ability to access their tickets, scan into Marlins Park and even transfer their tickets to others, in a Mobile environment using their smartphones and tablets.

"Accessing and managing tickets in this manner is a groundbreaking enrichment to the fan experience that puts the power in the palm of the fans' hands and is one we are thrilled to provide for South Florida fans," said Sean Flynn, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Event Booking. "Never again will fans have to worry about forgetting their tickets at home, meeting with friends to pick up their tickets or about leaving tickets for a family member under a doormat."

"Paperless ticketing and Mobile ticket management are part of the Marlins' efforts to transform the fan experience through the application of innovative technology," said Alex Buznego, Director of Business and Digital Innovation. "As a community, Miami is quickly becoming a major Technology hub in our region and the Marlins are proud to be on the leading edge of this movement."

Marlins Park is well-prepared to handle the transition to Mobile ticketing as it is already equipped with complimentary mobile device charging stations, high-density Wi-Fi, as well as sophisticated signal amplification systems for the five largest carriers in the South Florida area, all of which provide fans with unique capabilities for the South Florida market.

The transition to paperless ticketing also serves as a continuation of the Marlins' commitment to the environment, as evidenced by Marlins Park's distinction as the only LEED-certified retractable roof building in the world.
