JUPITER, Fla. -- Early Saturday morning, Dee Gordon ripped open the package with the same enthusiasm he exudes after receiving a birthday present. His new infield gloves arriving is reason for the Marlins' second baseman to rejoice.
Gordon and three of his teammates who wear mitts made by Wilson Sporting Goods celebrated Glove Day.
"It means a lot to me," Gordon said. "I've got my own model. It's one of a kind. It's the way I picked it. It's the way I want it. I couldn't be any happier."
Gordon, closer A.J. Ramos, catcher A.J. Ellis and outfielder Matt den Dekker each received their customized gloves.
For Gordon, the model is the same one he's had since 2015, when he received the National League Gold Glove Award.
"This is the same glove I've been using since 2015, and this is the same game glove I've been using since 2015," Gordon said.

The new black and light tan gloves will be broken over the course of Spring Training, which started for Miami's position players on Friday. But Gordon still intends to keep using the same well-worn glove that netted him his lone Gold Glove.
That season, Gordon flashed a fielding percentage of .992 and committed just six errors. Now, he has two backup gloves, just in case.
"I just like how light it is," Gordon said. "I feel like when the ball goes in, it doesn't go out."
Ramos also welcomed his new glove. But as a pitcher, his appreciation for a glove does not rise to the same level of, say, an infielder.
"I know a lot of guys, they love their gloves," Ramos said. "Some don't let anyone touch their gloves. As long as it catches for me, it's fine."
