Marlins' Baker exits with ailing oblique

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Marlins are running thin on second basemen. Jeff Baker, making his first start of the season at second base on Saturday, exited in the bottom of the fourth inning in Miami's 6-2 win over the Giants at AT&T Park.

Baker, who has been dealing with a tight right oblique, was replaced by Donovan Solano after Miami scored three runs in the fourth inning off Madison Bumgarner. Baker insists he is fine, and the team lists him as day to day.

"He has a little bit of an oblique [injury]," manager Mike Redmond said. "It's one of those things that's [been] there. After his last at-bat, it looked like it really grabbed on him, so we got him out of there to make sure."

Baker was getting the start in place of Dee Gordon, who sat out Friday and Saturday with a tight right hamstring.

In the fourth inning, Baker delivered an RBI double and scored on Adeiny Hechavarria's double.

At second base, Baker fielded two ground balls, including the first play of the first inning. He made a backhanded stop and threw out Nori Aoki. On the play, Baker didn't appear to be moving smoothly.

"I'm fine," Baker said.

Gordon is expected to start on Sunday.
