Marlins land Minor League reliever from Rays

PHOENIX -- The Marlins acquired Double-A right-hander Matt Ramsey from the Rays on Monday afternoon.

In return, the Marlins traded three international bonus slots to the Rays, which amounted to about $1 million, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Ramsey, a 24-year-old reliever, has been pitching for Double-A Montgomery this season, where he has been exceptional. In 24 games, Ramsey is 3-0 with six saves and a 1.07 ERA.

Manager Mike Redmond, when he addressed the media Monday, said he was unsure where Ramsey would report.

"I know nothing about him," he said. "All I know is that we got him, and that he's going to go start here soon ... I don't know where."

Ramsey was a 19th-round pick out of the University of Tennessee in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

In three seasons in the Rays' system, he has a 6-3 record with a 2.11 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in 98 innings.
