Marlins send 7 non-roster invitees to Minors camp

March 15th, 2016

JUPITER, Fla. -- The Marlins made their first wave of roster moves on Tuesday, and there were no surprises.
After an 8-6 loss to the Mets at Roger Dean Stadium, Miami announced seven players have been reassigned to Minor League camp. The list includes infielders Dan Black, Tommy Medica, Brady Shoemaker, J.T. Riddle; outfielders Kenny Wilson and Yefri Perez and catcher Sharif Othman.
The Marlins now have 56 players in big league camp.
Minor League camp opened a few days ago, and games have already begun on the back fields of the Roger Dean Stadium complex.
All seven players sent down on Tuesday were non-roster invitees.
According to MLBPipeline.com, Riddle is the Marlins' 10th-rated prospect. The left-handed-hitting shortstop got his first taste of big league camp, and he had the opportunity to work with infield coach Perry Hill.
Riddle had experience last year at Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans. He was 2-for-12 in nine spring games.
Shoemaker was 6-for-12 in seven games, while Perez went 3-for-10.
