Redmond uses all-right-handed lineup vs. lefty Gio

WASHINGTON -- Manager Mike Redmond shook up the Marlins' lineup Wednesday, and the team recorded double-digit hits for the first time in more than a week. So on Thursday, he kept shaking.

With left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the mound, Redmond started an all right-handed lineup for Thursday night's series finale against the Nationals. The Marlins' skipper put Donovan Solano at the top of the order for just the second time this season, and bumped Justin Ruggiano -- who led off on Wednesday -- to the cleanup spot.

"We're just going to keep mixing and matching until we find one that works," Redmond said. "We've been trying since April 1, right?"

The changes were made in part to rest Christian Yelich and Logan Morrison, both left-handed hitters, with a southpaw on the mound. But Redmond also said that he wants to use the final month of the season to evaluate players at different spots in the lineup.

"We're at a point in the season where I think we have the chance and the ability to try different things and try different guys in different situations," Redmond said. "Not only to help us win a ballgame, but for down the road, to see where guys are going to fit."
