Marlins open Spring Training slate on Feb. 25

Miami to host Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium; play 18 home games

MIAMI -- The Marlins will spend plenty of time in Palm Beach County come Spring Training, which gets underway when pitchers and catchers begin workouts on Feb. 14 in Jupiter, Fla.
Miami shares the Roger Dean Stadium complex with the Cardinals, and in 2017, the Astros and Nationals will relocate to West Palm Beach, putting four teams about 10 miles away from each other.
Of the Marlins' 35 Grapefruit League games, 27 will be in Palm Beach County, with 22 at Roger Dean Stadium. Miami has 18 home games.
Spring Training will begin with the first workout for pitchers and catchers on Feb. 14, with the first full-squad workout set for Feb. 17.
Miami's first Grapefruit League game will be against the Cardinals at 1:05 p.m. ET on Feb. 25. The Marlins will be the home team, and when the clubs face each other again the next day, Miami will be the visitor.
The Marlins will also have two split-squad days -- March 19 at home against the Nationals and at Port St. Lucie with the Mets; and March 28 in Jupiter with the Astros and at Washington.
Spring Training concludes when the Marlins host the Tigers twice -- on March 31 (7:05 p.m. ET) and April 1 (12:05 p.m. ET).
Overall, the Marlins' Grapefruit League schedule features home games against the Mets (four times), Nationals (four times), Cardinals (three times), Tigers (three times), Astros (three times) and Twins (March 10).
The 2017 campaign will mark the 15th season the Marlins have held Spring Training in Jupiter. It will also be manager Don Mattingly's second year with Miami.
The Marlins made strides in 2016, remaining in National League Wild Card contention into September. They finished 79-82 in a year that ended with the tragic death of in a boating accident.
Miami projects to retain most of its core players, headlined by three-time All-Star , plus rising talents like center fielder and catcher .
Opening Day for the Marlins is April 3 at Washington.
