ARLINGTON -- Left-hander Adam Conley pitched seven scoreless innings in his second start since returning from the Minor Leagues and the Marlins went on for a 4-0 victory over the Rangers on Monday night.
Giancarlo Stanton supported Conley with a pair of home runs, the seventh time he has hit two in a game this season and the 25th multi-homer game of his career. He has 32 homers for the season, the most in the National League, and 11 of those have come in July.
"When he's on the field, he's right," said Marlins manager Don Mattingly, on Stanton being injury-free and having a big season. "If he doesn't miss time, big chunks of time, then the numbers are going to be big. He's been able to stay on the field. He's feeling good. At some point, I'd like to get him off the field, but if he's going to be on the field, he's going to be good."

Stanton said the key to the night was Conley's seven shutout innings.
"It was good," Stanton said. "Conley, he brought the demeanor and that drive I like out of him. He's got to keep that up. He was making them look foolish out there. He's been known to do that. He's got to keep that positive drive going."

Rangers starter Martin Perez took the loss, allowing three runs in seven innings. The loss comes in the opener of a nine-game homestand for the Rangers after they had swept three from the Rays in Tampa Bay. Adrian Beltre had four singles for the Rangers, giving him 2,993 hits for his career.

"Our job is to win ballgames, not individual performances," Beltre said. "A tough loss … we couldn't find a way to crack the left-hander. We created some situations but couldn't find the big hit."

Conley allowed seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven in earning his first Major League victory since May 3. This was only the second time in 44 Major League starts that Conley did not walk a batter.
"I can't really tell you what I was really thinking about doing out there," Conley said, especially pleased by not walking anyone. "Just grabbing the ball, convicted about a pitch and throwing it the best I could. I was able to do that for a pretty good stretch there tonight."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Stanton starts with blast: Stanton put the Marlins ahead in the first inning with a two-run home run off Perez. The shot had an exit velocity of 110.5 miles per hour before crashing into the left-field seats at a projected distance of 428 feet, according to Statcast™. Stanton and Aaron Judge are now tied with 17 home runs with an exit velocity of at least 110 miles per hour and 12 with a distance of at least 425 feet.
"Punch 'em early, ha," Stanton said with a smile.

Beltre doubled off: Beltre's second hit was a leadoff single in the fourth inning. After Mike Napoli popped out, Rougned Odor ripped a smash down the first-base line. First baseman Tyler Moore made a diving stop and landed on the bag for the out. Beltre tried to scramble back to first but Moore tagged him out for an inning-ending double play.

CHOO OUT ON REVIEW
The Rangers trailed 2-0 when Carlos Gomez singled with one out in the third off of Conley. Shin-Soo Choo followed with a grounder through the right side that moved Gomez to third. Choo tried to turn it into a double and was thrown out by Stanton. The Rangers challenged the call and it was upheld on review.
