ARLINGTON -- The tone was set from the beginning when Dee Gordon, the least likely player in the lineup, homered to lead off against Yu Darvish. From there, the hits and runs kept coming and coming.
When the onslaught subsided, the Marlins enjoyed a record-setting offensive performance in their 22-10 rout of the Rangers on Wednesday night at Globe Life Park.
The 22 runs established a club mark, surpassing the 20 on July 1, 2003, against the Braves. The 22 hits were the fourth most in a game, three shy of the franchise standard, also set versus Atlanta.
"I haven't been part of something like that, on either side" said Giancarlo Stanton, who blistered a home run off Jason Grilli in the eighth inning. "Not good that we get [home] so late, but a lot of guys came out swinging, and had a game for themselves."

In four hours and two minutes, the Marlins outslugged the Rangers to take two of three in the series and four of six on the road trip.
Stanton now leads the Majors with 33 homers. But he wasn't the only offensive standout. Christian Yelich went deep and doubled three times. Derek Dietrich notched a career-high five RBIs. Marcell Ozuna added three hits and five RBIs.

Gordon, Yelich, Stanton and J.T. Realmuto each homered.
"Definitely better to be on the winning side, that's for sure," said Yelich, who recorded seven extra-base hits in the last two games. "You saw a lot of things you haven't seen before. It was one of those weird baseball nights."

The Marlins broke open a 2-1 game by scoring a season-high nine runs in the fourth inning, which is one run shy of the club record. Twice Miami has scored 10, with the most recent coming on Aug. 12, 2015, in the sixth inning at home against the Red Sox.
Ozuna and Realmuto each collected two hits in an eight-hit inning. The former got the frame rolling with a double, and his three-run triple marked the end of the night for Darvish. The All-Star left fielder also became the first Marlin to double and triple in the same inning.

Eight of the runs in the fourth were charged to Darvish, the subject of trade speculation.
Realmuto singled and hit a two-run homer in the fourth, with his two-run shot coming off Jeremy Jeffress.

After Ozuna's double opened the inning, Realmuto singled, and Ichiro Suzuki delivered an RBI ground-rule double. Dietrich added a two-run single. With two outs, Gordon and Stanton singled. Following a Yelich walk, Ozuna's three-run triple chased Darvish.
Miami tagged Darvish for a career-high 10 earned runs.
"We just kept getting hits. I think that's the big thing," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "They kept extending the inning. We just kept kind of extending it and extending it. That was obviously a good thing for us."
