MIAMI -- Marcell Ozuna is doing all he can to help his All-Star Game bid. The Marlins' outfielder clubbed his 17th homer -- and his second in as many days -- and drove in three runs in Miami's 11-6 win over the A's on Wednesday afternoon at Marlins Park.
"He's been unreal this year," Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich said of Ozuna. "Definitely one of the best players in baseball."

Miami's hit parade picked up right where it left off Tuesday against A's starter Daniel Gossett, who surrendered seven runs (six earned) through 3 1/3 innings in his Major League debut.
"Obviously, it's not exactly how we drew it up, but I'm so fortunate to have the opportunity to play in the big leagues today," Gossett said. "It's a dream of mine since I was a kid. It was everything you dream of minus the outcome."
Down 4-0 in the second, homers by Ozuna and Tyler Moore ignited a comeback that was finished in the third on an Ozuna groundout.

"I think O's homer is huge right away, because it kind of gets you started," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "Right then you're down four and all of a sudden it's three. So that one was an important one. It didn't seem huge at the time, but in my mind it lets everyone know we're in this game."
Edinson Volquez -- who yielded five runs (four earned) and walked four -- was lifted after a fourth inning that saw Jed Lowrie double home a run to give the A's a 5-4 lead. It didn't last long. Miami's Tomas Telis roped a pinch-hit RBI double in the bottom half before Dee Gordon's run-scoring single gave his club a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Miami (29-35) has won eight of its last 12 and sits a half-game behind the Mets in third place in the NL East.

The A's dropped their sixth game in the last seven and fall to a season-high 11 games under .500. They have the worst record in the American League (27-38). Oakland finishes the road trip 1-5 and for the season is now 9-25 away from home. The A's have now lost nine consecutive road series for the first time since 1986.

A's right fielder Matt Joyce left the game in the third inning with a laceration under his chin. He collided with first baseman Yonder Alonso an inning earlier when the two chased a pop fly in shallow right field. Alonso was also attended to by trainers but remained in the game.
"He had three stitches in his chin," said manager Bob Melvin, who added he didn't believe that Joyce would miss any playing time. "As of right now, I don't think so."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Gordon strikes thrice: Gordon took an 0-1 pitch from A's reliever Daniel Coulombe and slapped it between the third baseman and shortstop to give his team a one-run lead in the fourth, but his busy day was just beginning. In the fifth, Gordon lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to left that extended the lead to 9-5. Gordon then doubled in the seventh and raced home on a Giancarlo Stanton single that pushed the lead to 11-5. With his two hits, Gordon climbed to 21 in Interleague Play this season, tied with teammate Giancarlo Stanton for the National League lead.
"He puts pressure on them," Ozuna said of Gordon. "He got that base hit RBI and that was impressive and awesome for us."

Healy homer:Ryon Healy hit his sixth homer in 11 games, a three-run blast in the second inning that gave the A's a seemingly comfortable 4-0 lead they could not hold. It was the first hit of the two-game series for Healy, who went 3-for-5, snapping an 0-for-8 streak. Healy's 424-foot homer, according to Statcast™, had an exit velocity of 105 mph with a 27-degree launch angle.
"He's a fighter," Melvin said. "He goes out there and fights every inning no matter what the score is. It's impressive to watch a young kid be able to do that, too."

SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS
• Gossett's infield single in the fourth inning was monumental for a couple reasons. Not only was it the rookie's first Major League hit, it was the first by an A's pitcher since a Scott Kazmir single on June 16, 2015, at San Diego. Oakland pitchers had been 0-for-26 since and 1-for-63 over the past four seasons prior to Gossett's hit.

• Ichiro Suzuki's pinch-hit infield single in the fifth inning put him at 365 career hits in Interleague Play, passing Derek Jeter for most all time in Interleague Play history (since 1997). Ichiro's also now five hits from tying Rod Carew with 3,053 career hits.
"I think it speaks to a couple things. Number one, he and Derek are two obviously Hall of Fame guys," Mattingly said. "But then just the length of their careers ... it's the guys that can not only be good for periods of time, but be good for long periods of time."

A's:Sonny Gray takes the mound on Thursday when the A's open a four-game series with the Yankees at 7:05 p.m. PT. He will be making his ninth start since being reinstated from the disabled list on May 1 with a strained right shoulder.
Marlins: The Marlins receive on off-day Thursday before heading to Atlanta for a three-game set at SunTrust Park on Friday at 7:35 p.m. ET. Dan Straily (4-4, 3.89) seeks his first win of June, during which he owns a 5.73 ERA.
