SAN FRANCISCO -- When Giancarlo Stanton takes center stage during tonight's T-Mobile Home Run Derby, he'll flash back to the days he spent teeing off against his father.

"That's the only time you can just kind of be free and be like you're a kid and young," said Stanton, the defending champion and No. 1 seed.

This year, the Marlins have two entries to entertain fans at Marlins Park. Justin Bour, the No. 7 seed, will square off against Yankees rookie and No. 2-seeded Aaron Judge. Stanton will see Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez in the opening round (8 p.m. ET on ESPN).

Stanton said fans shouldn't look past Bour, who blasted his 20th homer Saturday.

And Stanton's certainly qualified to say that after cracking 61 homers in last year's edition.

"They're going to have a good surprise for the beginning," Stanton said. "It'll be, 'When are me and [Aaron] Judge up?' But 'who's this guy?' I'm happy for him and he's going to do good, too."

Bour -- who missed out in this year's Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote selection -- is eager to dazzle on the national stage. Marlins outfield/baserunning coach Lorenzo Bundy will pitch to Bour.

"Being in the Home Run Derby, it's just a matter of getting with Lo and finding my zone," Bour said. "And just trying to launch as many balls to the upper deck as I can. ... I think it's a very cool situation and a unique experience to have it in front of the home crowd in Miami. Excited to put on a show for them."

Stanton -- coming off a win over Todd Frazier last year -- posted monster numbers at Petco Park in 2016. His home runs traveled a total projected distance of 27,187 feet, 5.15 miles more than any competitor. Once again, Pat Shine -- who joined the team in San Francisco -- will pitch to Stanton.

"He knows how to groove them. He's got an awful ERA but that's what I need," Stanton said with a laugh.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly expects both Miami representatives to shine tonight.

"Obviously everyone knows about Giancarlo; not near as many people know about J.B.," Mattingly said. "But he can put on a pretty good show, too. So I hope he does well and I think it'll be fun to watch those guys."
