Marlins to host Colorado Rockies and New York Yankees for six-game homestand

MIAMI -The Miami Marlins begin their fifth homestand on Thursday, June 11, with a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies. Then the Marlins will wrap up the homestand with a two-game set against the New York Yankees. The Marlins recently took on the Rockies, taking two of three games in Colorado this past weekend. The Marlins will host the Yankees for the first time since playing two exhibition games at Marlins Park on April 1-2, 2012.

The homestand begins on Thursday, which means all fans ages 55 and older can receive a complimentary ticket with photo ID as part of Seniors Free Ticket Thursdays, presented by Wellmax Medical Centers. The Corona Light Summer Beach Bash follows on Friday; the VIP special event package includes a Lexus Legends Level ticket, an exclusive summer celebration at the West Plaza, Marlins beach sandals, a VIP pregame party and a post-game fireworks party presented by Waste Management.

Saturday kicks off with the fourth annual Marlins Ayudan Adopt-O-Mania hosted by Miami-Dade Animal Services at the West Plaza prior to the game. Fans who adopt a dog will be able to bring their new companion inside for the game as it is also Bark at the Park presented by 1-800-PET-MEDS. All proceeds from the dog tickets will benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami. In addition, fans are invited to join the Marlins' Venezuelan Heritage Day celebration. The VIP special event package includes a lower level game ticket, Venezuelan Heritage Day T-shirt and the opportunity to receive an autograph from Andres Galarraga. Following the game, Cuban reggaeton duo Gente de Zona will take the stage on the West Plaza for a post-game concert presented by Heineken.

All fans on Sunday will receive a Marlins Recyclable Grocery Tote Bag courtesy of MLB Network. Following the game, fans have the chance to play catch with dad for the ultimate Father's Day gift. The Father's Day Play Catch package includes All You Can Eat Lexus Legends Level tickets, the opportunity to play catch in the outfield following the game, a commemorative photo of the group in the dugout and an official Marlins game-used baseball. Then on Monday, the Marlins will have George Martin Jr. as the team's honorary captain. George is battling cancer and being treated at Alex's Place at UHealth's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He will be in uniform and make the official "play ball" announcement to commence the game. The opportunity was coordinated by the Austen Everett Foundation, which works to inspire, empower and improve the lives of kids battling cancer by "Uniting the Fight" of these extraordinary individuals with professional and collegiate athletic organizations.
