Marlins to host six-game homestand against the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners

The Miami Marlins begin their second homestand of the 2014 campaign on Monday, April 14, with a three-game set against the Washington Nationals. Following an off-day on Thursday, April 17, the Marlins begin a three-game, weekend series against the Seattle Mariners, marking their first Interleague matchup of the season. The Marlins host the Mariners in South Florida for just the second time in Franchise history (other, 2005).

The homestand features a giveaway on Sunday, April 20, as the first 5,000 kids ages 12-and-under will receive Adeiny Hechavarria Kids Sunglasses courtesy of Fox Sports Florida. In addition to the giveaway, fans will have a chance to get autographs from a Marlins player inside the New Era Team Store from 6:00 to 6:20PM on both Fireworks Friday and Saturday Spectacular. Family Sunday offers fans the chance to take a picture with a Marlins player as part of Selfie Sunday and a special Easter Egg Hunt on the West Plaza for kids 10 and under, beginning at 12:30PM. After the game, all kids can run the bases in the Diamond Dash.

During this homestand, the Marlins will recognize the four 2014 Charity Partners on Saturday, April 19, with a pregame, on-field ceremony. The four organizations that will receive the 2014 Charity Partner Empower Fund are: Feeding South Florida, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Special Olympics of South Florida and Young at Art Museum. Marlins President David Samson will present each organization with personalized Marlins batting practice jerseys.

The homestand also features Jackie Robinson Night on Tuesday, April 15. Prior to the game, the Marlins Foundation will present a scholarship check for $4,200 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation, represented by JRF scholarship recipient and University Miami student Christina Gordon, as well as JRF Southeast Scholar Advisory Committee Chair Curtis Tearte. In addition, 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to help minority male students graduate high school through mentorship, will have 50 of their top scholars present their favorite Jackie Robinson value during an on-field presentation. Fans can take advantage of several ticket promotions during the homestand, including All You Can Eat Seats on Monday (4/14) and Saturday (4/19), The Miami Herald Half Price Tuesday (4/15), Kids Eat Free Wednesday Night and Chevron Crazy 8's Wednesday (4/16) and the Pepsi 4-for-$54 Pack on Sunday (4/20).
