Marlins to Play Two-Game Series vs. Pirates in Puerto Rico

Marlins Also Add Two Spring Training Games vs. Yankees at Marlins Park

The Miami Marlins, in conjunction with Major League Baseball and the Pittsburgh Pirates, today announced a two-game series at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 30-31, 2016, in which the Marlins will host the Pirates. In addition, the Marlins have added two Spring Training games against the New York Yankees on April 1-2 at Marlins Park.

"We have been fortunate in the past to play at historic Hiram Bithorn Stadium, where you can feel the love and passion that the fans have for the game of baseball," said Marlins Owner, Jeffrey Loria. "We are very excited to return in 2016 to have the privilege to play on Roberto Clemente Day, as MLB honors the great baseball legend. This will be a special time for our entire organization."

Major League Baseball also announced today that in honor of the Puerto Rico native Clemente, the observance of Roberto Clemente Day will be held on May 31, 2016 in conjunction with the Marlins vs. Pirates game in San Juan. The Marlins have played three previous series at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, and own a 7-2 record at the historic ballpark. The lone Marlins home series at Hiram Bithorn, June 28-30, 2010 against the New York Mets, was also the club's last visit to Puerto Rico.

For the second time since moving to Marlins Park, the Marlins will wrap up Spring Training with two contests against the New York Yankees at Marlins Park. All current season ticket holders that are affected by the change will have the option to replace the Pirates games with the Yankees exhibition games to their plan. Fans interested in purchasing season ticket plans that include these newly added Yankees games should go to Marlins.com/Tickets or call 305-480-2525.

Single game tickets for the Yankees games and the 2016 regular season will go on sale at FanFest, which will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Marlins Park.
