Astros' Gonzalez day to day after hit on knee

TORONTO -- Astros first baseman left Sunday's 9-2 loss to the Blue Jays after taking a pitch off his left knee and suffering a contusion. Gonzalez is considered day to day, and X-rays on the 27-year-old came back negative.
Gonzalez took an 89-mph cutter from off his leg in the top of the second, and initially stayed down in pain while getting examined by the training staff. Gonzalez eventually went to first base and stayed in until the bottom half of the frame. came in to play first and finished 0-for-3.
"He didn't feel like he could move around at full speed, so I pulled him from the game," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said.
Gonzalez has been a utility wizard for Houston this season, having played every infield position as well as left field. The five-year Major League veteran has hit .257 with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs this season.
The Astros have a day off Monday before starting a two-game set with the Cardinals on Tuesday.
