TORONTO -- Matt Albers etched himself in the White Sox history books Monday night.
Albers' scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 7-5 White Sox victory was his 30th consecutive scoreless outing, breaking a White Sox record held previously by Jesse Crain.
The record dates back to August fifth of last season, and spans across 33 innings, making it the longest active streak in the Major Leagues. Albers has 11 years in the Majors, and the right-hander says the streak is even sweeter with the White Sox sitting atop the American League Central.
"I think the best part about it is we're winning games," Albers said. "The most fun I've ever had is when we're winning, regardless of how I'm doing, and that's the number one key. I'm just trying to keep it going and not think about it much. Just keep it one outing at a time."

Albers' outing not only gave him his seventh hold of the season, but it also came after the White Sox put up five runs in the top of the seventh. The Houston native finished his outing fielding a near-perfect bunt attempt from Ezequiel Carrera and fist pumped on his way back to the dugout.
"I was just having fun. It was a really good bunt so I was just fired up because we came back, our offense put up so many runs and we took the lead. I liked it. Have some fun, fire the guys up and just yell a little bit to get everybody going."
Albers is former teammates with Crain, who had his 29-game run in 2013, and he says he will bother his good friend after the series with the Blue Jays.
"He already claimed the record was invalid because it spans over two seasons, so he already claims his record still stands," Albers joked. "I haven't texted him, but I'm sure I will when we get back to America."
In 2016, Albers has pitched 10 2/3 innings and allowed eight baserunners, as he continues to be an integral part of manager Robin Ventura's league-leading bullpen.
"He's been fantastic," Ventura said. "I think where he was last year, he got his velocity back, and he's been clever when he's been out there. He's a guy we count on."
