Cain, Bumgarner among first-workout pitchers

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Jeremy Affeldt and Javier Lopez will be among the more experienced Giants throwing off bullpen mounds Saturday as pitchers begin working toward season-opening shape.

Tim Hudson, Tim Lincecum, Sergio Romo and Ryan Vogelsong will be among the pitchers taking their first turns Sunday.

Naturally, San Francisco's prospects will draw plenty of attention. One pitcher guaranteed to be scrutinized Saturday is left-handed starter Edwin Escobar, whom general manager Brian Sabean mentioned as having an outside chance to ascend all the way to the Majors this year. Sunday's contingent will include right-handed starter Kyle Crick, the organization's No. 1 prospect, and reliever Derek Law, who enjoyed an outstanding 2013 season in the Minors and the Arizona Fall League.
