CHICAGO -- White Sox third baseman/designated hitter Matt Davidson and second baseman Yoan Moncada were not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale with the Blue Jays at Guaranteed Rate Field.
"Matty is day to day," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "He was a little sore this morning."
Davidson, who was hit by a Marcus Stroman pitch Tuesday and exited in the sixth inning, leads the White Sox with 22 home runs. He planned on checking to see how the right wrist/hamate area felt Wednesday after it swelled up on him Tuesday.
Moncada escaped with bruising and soreness above his right knee after a gruesome collision with right fielder Willy Garcia on a Darwin Barney popup Monday. Renteria listed Moncada as day to day on Tuesday, but the second baseman thought it would be two or three days before he returned.

"We are going to give him one more day to make sure he's OK and see how he is tomorrow," said Renteria of Moncada. "But both of them are OK."
Avisail Garcia on the mend
Renteria said that Garcia is "getting better" after the first-time All-Star was placed on the disabled list last Thursday with a strained ligament in his right thumb.
"Obviously, we're hoping that he's going to be cleared at some point to start at least doing some tee work or things of that nature," Renteria said. "We're not going to rush it. We're in no situation right now to, so we want him to be completely sound and the best that he can be."
Anderson's growth
Tim Anderson's words exchanged with Stroman during Tuesday's loss were viewed by Renteria as more of an isolated incident as opposed to a sign of frustration emanating from Anderson's ongoing struggles. Anderson entered Wednesday in a 5-for-39 funk over his past 11 games.

"All of us will come to grips with whatever it is we think he is or isn't, and time takes care of that," Renteria said. "As far as I'm concerned, he's a 24-year-old man who is learning how to play the game and going through his ups and downs.
"He's not the first and won't be the last. That's why it doesn't really affect me too much. It doesn't bring a whole lot of cause for me to have pause. He's just another human being who is very, very talented, and he's continuing to learn and grow up in the game of baseball."
Three honored by Minor League Players of the Month
The White Sox announced Class A Advanced Winston-Salem outfielder Eloy Jimenez and Triple-A Charlotte infielder Jake Peter as their co-Minor League Players of July, while Charlotte starter Reynaldo Lopez was named Minor League Pitcher of July. The voting was done by a panel of Chicago-area media members.

Lopez allowed two earned runs over five innings for Charlotte on Tuesday, and he has fanned 54 over his past 41 2/3 innings. The No. 59 overall prospect per MLBPipeline.com could join the White Sox as soon as the next homestand, but he will be a definite September callup.

Renteria added the organization has had very mild, light conversations about September callups.
