Maxwell placed on 7-day DL

Experiencing Concussion-Related Symptoms

HOUSTON, TX - The Astros have placed outfielder Justin Maxwell on the 7-Day Disabled List due to concussion-related symptoms, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today.

Maxwell sustained a mild concussion on Tuesday (6/25) night vs. St. Louis while making a diving attempt at a catch in right field. He has not started a game since then, appearing in one game as a pinch-runner on Friday vs. the Angels.

To fill his spot on the roster, outfielder Jimmy Paredes has been recalled from Triple A Oklahoma City. Paredes is scheduled to be in uniform (#38) for today's 1:10 p.m. game vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Paredes was hitting .340 (52x153) in 41 games for the RedHawks with 14 doubles, three triples, five homers and 23 RBI with a .404 on-base pct. and a .569 slugging pct. (.972 OPS). This will be his second big league stint in 2013.
