Mazara, Williams headed to Futures Game
Triple-A Round Rock manager Wood to coach on U.S. team
ARLINGTON -- Double-A Frisco outfielders Nomar Mazara and Nick Williams were selected to the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Thursday. Triple-A Round Rock manager Jason Wood will also serve as a coach on the U.S. team.
Rangers No. 3 prospect Mazara (World Team) is hitting .286 with nine home runs and 38 RBIs for the RoughRiders. He signed with the Rangers as an international free agent in July 2011.
Rangers No. 7 prospect Williams (U.S. Team) is hitting .294 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs. Williams was a second-round pick in 2012.
Wood is in his first season managing Round Rock after leading Frisco to an 80-win season and a Texas League playoff appearance last season. He managed the Rangers' former Class A affiliate Myrtle Beach from 2011-13 and made the playoffs in each of those seasons.
Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Ken Griffey Sr. will manage the U.S. Team, while Tony Perez will be the skipper of the World Team.
