McCatty expected to be out of hospital Wednesday

DETROIT -- Nationals pitching coach Steve McCatty is expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday. The team is hoping McCatty can rejoin the team in Milwaukee.

"They are just being very careful with him, and I'm glad they are doing that," manager Davey Johnson said.

On Sunday, McCatty was transported to a D.C. hospital and was not present for the team's 14-1 victory over the Mets. After the game, Johnson said McCatty was hospitalized with atrial fibrillation. McCatty, 59, had an irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure before Sunday's game.

Like he did against the Mets on Sunday, Johnson took over the pitching-coach duties against the Tigers on Tuesday.
