Local Twins Fan Named Top 50 Finalist for MLB Fan Cave

Thousands Applied for Ultimate Baseball Opportunity; 30 Finalists to Attend Spring Training

The MLB Fan Cave will return for a third season in 2013, following a year of tremendous growth in social media activity, fan engagement, and video content. The Twins hope to be represented by 25-year old St. Paul native, Michael McGivern, an ardent Minnesota Twins fan with broadcasting, social media, and marketing experience.

“Representing my favorite team in the Fan Cave out in Manhattan would be a dream come true. I would relish this great opportunity to show what being a member of ?Twins Territory? is all about,” said McGivern.

With 52 candidates vying for spots, a voting round will occur until Feb. 13th. From there, Major League Baseball will select 30 finalists who will earn a trip to Spring Training in Arizona, where they will compete to determine the final group of Cave Dwellers. These winners will join with the goal of watching all 2,430 MLB games while chronicling their experiences online. Along the way, they will be eliminated or remain in the MLB Fan Cave, with one eventual winner crowned before the end of the World Series.

Fans are urged to view Michael’s video and vote for him by visiting http://mlbfancave.mlb.com/fancave/vote.jsp?fliqzid=75d1a1fb9d2844bfba9497e98bde25c8.

McGivern added, “Getting votes and publicity by the 13th is going to be invaluable to getting to Arizona, I am ecstatic to get this chance to make Minnesota proud.”
