The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled outfielder Michael Conforto from his rehabilitation assignment and activated him from the Disabled List. Conforto will wear #30 and will be available for today's game in St. Louis. In addition, New York placed outfielder Brandon Nimmo on the 10-Day Disabled List, with a partially collapsed lung.
Conforto, 24, had been on the DL, retroactive to June 28, with a bruised left hand. He went 3-4 with two singles, one double, one run scored and one RBI in a rehabilitation game Thursday for St. Lucie (A) vs. Charlotte. He played nine innings in centerfield.
Conforto was named to the 2017 NL All-Star team and is the second-youngest Mets outfielder named to an All-Star team behind Darryl Strawberry. Conforto ranks seventh in the majors with a .405 on-base percentage and 10th with a .953 OPS. He's hit a career-high 15 home runs and has 41 RBI while batting .285 in 69 games this year.
