Mets add infielder Matt Reynolds to NLDS roster

The New York Mets have added infielder Matt Reynolds to their National League Division Series roster. Reynolds will wear uniform # 56. Infielder Ruben Tejada was removed from the roster after suffering a non-displaced fractured right fibula in Game 2 at Los Angeles. Tejada will not require surgery.

Reynolds appeared in 115 games with Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League this season, hitting .267 (119-445) with 70 runs scored, 32 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 65 RBI and 13 stolen bases. The 24-year-old appeared in 92 games at shortstop and 11 at second base during the 2015 campaign, committing 12 errors in 466 total chances for a .974 fielding percentage. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native had 33 multi-hit games this season, including four, four-hit efforts with the 51s and was named to the mid-season PCL All-Star team. The second-round pick from the University of Arkansas was the Sterling Award Winner, emblematic of the team's MVP, for Las Vegas in 2014 after batting .333 (89-267) with 54 runs scored, 16 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 40 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 68 games after beginning the season with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.

Reynolds has never appeared in the major leagues, and if he were to enter a game, would become just the second player in modern history to make his major league debut in the postseason. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Oakland infielder Mark Kiger became the first player when he made his debut with the Athletics during the 2006 postseason.
