Mets' annual food drive set for Tuesday

January 13th, 2016

NEW YORK -- The Mets' annual offseason food drive will take place Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at Citi Field. Fans donating 10 or more items of nonperishable, nutritious food will receive a voucher for a pair of tickets to a select Mets home game in April, as well as a 15-percent discount off regularly-priced merchandise at the Mets' team store.
The club's Mr. Met mascot will be in attendance from noon to 1 p.m.
Among the top items the Mets are requesting are canned fruit, vegetables and proteins; plastic jars of peanut butter; packages of hot or cold cereal; and packages of macaroni and cheese. The team will not accept unlabeled, expired or dented cans; any open packaging; products that require refrigeration; and homemade products.
Donors may park in Lot G off 126th St. between the Right Field Gate and Roosevelt Avenue. The drive is in conjunction with Hain Celestial Group, a leading natural and organic food company, and City Harvest, one of New York City's largest food banks.
