NEW YORK -- The Mets have avoided arbitration with eight eligible players, agreeing to 2018 contracts with Jacob deGrom, Travis d'Arnaud, Jeurys Familia, Wilmer Flores, Matt Harvey, AJ Ramos, Hansel Robles and Noah Syndergaard.
The lone holdout is right-hander Zack Wheeler, with whom the club has exchanged arbitration figures. Wheeler is seeking $1.9 million and was offered $1.5 million. The two sides can continue to negotiate, but if they are unable to find common ground, arbitrators will begin holding hearings on Jan. 29.
The club has not confirmed the agreements with deGrom ($7.4 million), d'Arnaud ($3.475 million), Familia ($7.925 million), Flores ($3.4 million), Harvey ($5.625 million), Ramos ($9.225 million), Robles ($900,000) and Syndergaard ($2.975 million).

"I think it's going to be an awesome year, a lot of fun competing against other guys in our division," Syndergaard told The New York Post. "I'm pretty confident we'll come out on top."
deGrom, 29, was 15-10 with a 3.53 ERA in 31 starts last season, earning a raise over his 2017 salary of $4.050 million. This marked the right-hander's first year of arbitration eligibility.

d'Arnaud was in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The 28-year-old catcher hit .244 with 16 homers and 57 RBIs in 112 games with the Mets in 2017.
Familia was 2-2 with a 4.38 ERA in 26 appearances this past season, finishing 15 games and saving six. He served a domestic violence suspension at the beginning of the season, then had surgery in May to repair a blocked artery near his right armpit. The 28-year-old earned $6.69 million in 2017.

Flores, 26, hit .271 with 18 home runs and 52 RBIs in 110 games, the infielder's fifth with the Mets. His .795 OPS was a career best, though he did not play after Sept. 2 because of a broken nose.
Entering his final season before free agency, Harvey gets a $500,000 bump in salary from 2017, when he made $5.125 million. The 28-year-old went 5-7 with a 6.70 ERA in 19 outings, missing 2 1/2 months from mid-June to early September with a stress injury to the scapula bone in his right shoulder.
Ramos, 31, was 2-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 61 appearances, finishing 55 games and saving 27. He had a 4.74 ERA in 21 appearances for the Mets after being acquired from the Marlins in a July trade, and earned a raise from $6.55 million.
Robles, 27, was 7-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 46 relief appearances last season, and was first-year eligible as a Super Two player. The right-hander earned $553,125 last year.
Syndergaard, 25, made just seven starts last season due to injury, going 1-2 with a 2.97 ERA after being selected as a 2016 National League All-Star. Eligible as a Super Two, Syndergaard scored a significant raise over the $605,500 he earned in 2017.

 "Just come out there and support us come March 29th and the entire year," Syndergaard said. "We're all excited to get out there, I can't wait to get to Spring Training. 2018 is going to be our year."
