Mets' finale vs. Twins postponed until Aug. 19

MINNEAPOLIS -- The wintry weather that has enveloped the Midwest this April has caught up to the Mets.

Sunday afternoon's game against the Twins has been postponed until Monday, Aug. 19 at 2:10 p.m. ET. The Mets' schedule originally had them wrapping up a 10-day road trip to Arizona, Los Angeles and San Diego on Aug. 18, before returning home to face the Braves on Aug. 20, so the make-up game in Minneapolis will be played on what would have been an off-day.

The Mets won the first two games against the Twins this weekend in less-than-ideal conditions. Snow swirled as temps plummeted into the low 30s on Friday night, while the bats heated up in a 16-5 win. On Saturday, Matt Harvey silenced the Twins' bats on a clear, frigid afternoon.

Sunday's forecast in the Twin Cities called for highs in upper 30s with snow turning to sleet and eventually rain. However, the Mets likely will face similar conditions this week in Denver, where they start a four-game series against the Rockies on Monday. Snow is expected there the next three days, and Wednesday's forecasted high is 29 degrees.

The Mets' projected rotation for the week has Dillon Gee going Monday vs. the Rockies, Aaron Laffey on Tuesday, Jeremy Hefner on Wednesday and Jonathon Niese in Thursday's finale.
