Mets ink first-rounder Smith, plus dozen more

ATLANTA -- In addition to first-round Draft pick Dominic Smith, who made his signing with the organization official on Wednesday, the Mets announced that they have inked a dozen more of their Draft picks.

The latest batch of signees includes second-round right-handed pitcher Andrew Church, third-round outfielder Ivan Wilson, third-round right-hander Casey Meisner, fifth-round outfielder Jared King, seventh-round first baseman Matt Oberste, 10th-round shortstop Luis Guillorme, 11th-round right-hander Taylor Bashlor, 20th-round right-hander Dan Herrmann, 25th-round right-hander Ricky Jacquez, 28th-round right-hander Robert Coles, 35th-round right-hander Ty Williams and 38th-round left-hander Paul Paez.

The Mets have officially signed 24 of their Draft picks, including each of their first 14 selections. Smith, a first baseman, worked out Wednesday in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and will open his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Mets.
