Mets' Plawecki day to day with virus

PHOENIX -- Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki was out of the lineup in Friday's 7-2 loss with a virus that is causing head congestion, the Mets announced. He is day to day.

Plawecki, who hit a key two-run double in Thursday's win over the D-backs, is batting .208 with a .559 OPS in 32 games as the Mets' primary catcher. He will almost certainly head back to Triple-A Las Vegas when Travis d'Arnaud completes the Minor League rehab assignment that he started Thursday.

Plawecki has been mostly healthy since the Mets took him in the supplemental round of the 2012 Draft, but did miss some time last year due to vertigo symptoms. He made certain to specify that his current condition is unrelated to that one.

"I just woke up this morning and didn't feel like I was 100 percent to play," Plawecki said. "It's not vertigo so we can throw that out. I know what vertigo feels like. I wouldn't be able to stand here and talk to you all if it was."
