NEW YORK -- Matt Harvey threw off the slope of a mound this week, and the Mets right-hander is scheduled to throw a full bullpen session Sunday for the first time since landing on the disabled list June 15 with a stress injury to his right shoulder. It is another significant step forward for Harvey, who could be close to beginning a Minor League rehab assignment following bullpen sessions Sunday and Wednesday.
"He's progressing," general manager Sandy Alderson said.
Noah Syndergaard is also progressing, per Alderson, but is "a couple weeks behind" Harvey in his rehab from a torn right lat. The Mets expect both pitchers to return this season.
In 13 starts prior to his injury, Harvey went 4-3 with a 5.25 ERA. Syndergaard, who has not pitched since April, is 1-2 with a 3.29 ERA.
• Roughly on par with Harvey in his rehab, closer Jeurys Familia could return as soon as the third week of August, according to Alderson. Sidelined since May 16 due to arterial surgery, Familia should regain the closer's job when he returns, shifting AJ Ramos into a setup role.
• Reliever Hansel Robles, who complained of numbness in his throwing hand after walking in the winning run Thursday in Colorado, underwent an MRI exam the following morning in New York. The Mets have not yet released results of that test.
