NEW YORK -- Jung Ho Kang was looking to give the Pirates an early lead on Thursday night during the Mets' 6-4 win at Citi Field, but Michael Conforto had other ideas.
With Josh Harrison on second base and two outs in the first inning, Kang ripped a 1-0 two-seam fastball from Mets starter Bartolo Colon down the left-field line, but Conforto hustled over and laid out to make an incredible diving catch, saving a run.
"[A play like that] makes you feel good, makes you feel like you've done something positive," Conforto said. "It was good to get Bart out of that inning and keep the score even there. That kind of stuff provides a little bit of momentum and confidence."
According to Statcast™, Conforto covered a distance of 55.2 feet and reached a max speed of 18.5 mph while posting a route efficiency of 97.1 percent to make the grab.

After being held out of the starting lineup the previous three games with strained cartilage in his left wrist, Conforto parlayed that diving catch with a 2-for-4 night at the plate, including a solo home run in the third. It was his first multihit game since May 20 against Milwaukee.
