Mets name Pat Roessler assistant hitting coach

The New York Mets today announced the club has named Pat Roessler the team's assistant hitting coach.

Roessler, 55, was the New York Yankees Director of Player Development from 2004-2014. In addition from 2004-2013, he served as the Yankees Field Coordinator. Roessler also was the Yankees hitting coordinator in 2005 and from 2012-2013. He has also worked at the major league level with Montreal as the Expos hitting coach from 2000-2001.

Prior to joining the Yankees, Roessler was the Houston Astros Minor League hitting coordinator from 2002-2004. He served as the Minor League hitting coordinator for the Expos from 1995-1997 as well as the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League hitting coordinator from 1998-1999 and worked in the White Sox organization from 1988-1994.

Roessler was the assistant baseball coach at Old Dominion University (VA) from 1983-1988. He received a B.A. degree in Physical Education from the University of Arizona in 1983 and earned his M.A. in Sports Management from Old Dominion in 1987.
