Mets-Phillies postponed, to be made up June 2

PHILADELPHIA -- With heavy rain pouring down over the Northeast, Wednesday's game between the Mets and Phillies was postponed more than five hours prior to first pitch. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, June 2, at 7:05 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phils will honor all tickets for Wednesday's game on June 2, which was originally scheduled to be a mutual off-day.

The Mets will shift their rotation back one day, pushing right-hander Bartolo Colon, who was scheduled to start Wednesday's game, to Thursday's series opener in Denver. Colon will be followed by Zack Wheeler, Jenrry Mejia and Dillon Gee in the four-game series, where the weather should be far better than it was for the Mets last April. After enduring heavy snow and two postponements during their 2013 trip to Coors Field, the Mets are looking at temperatures rising into the 80s this time around.

Wednesday's postponement was the first of the year for the Mets, who have managed to avoid most of the weather-related issues that plagued them last April. Yet the Mets still endured their share of poor weather during the season's first month, playing Tuesday's game in Philadelphia amid 20-mph wind and a steady rain.

Rain continued throughout the night, growing heavier into the morning hours. It was not forecast to abate until the following morning.

The Mets should have a different look when they land in Colorado, with outfielder Juan Lagares tentatively scheduled to come off the disabled list prior to Thursday's game. Lagares has been sidelined since April 15 with a strained right hamstring.
