Flores starts at hot corner against Detroit

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Versatile Wilmer Flores started at third base on Saturday, as the Mets continue to try to find possible places for the 6-foot-3, 203-pound infielder in their lineup.

Flores went 0-for-3, dropping his spring average to .063.

"We have to decide, if he makes this club, where he's going to fit," manager Terry Collins explained.

"So we decided to play him around the horn. We're trying to look at different guys in different spots. He'll play shortstop again this week. He can play second base. That's his main position -- and we know he can play first base."
