CHICAGO -- The Blue Jays have yet another injury to deal with after catcher left Wednesday afternoon's 5-1 win against the White Sox in the seventh inning because of a strained right groin.
Montero sustained the injury while fielding a ball during the sixth inning. Chicago's hit a comebacker that bounced off Happ and was then fielded by Montero. Montero finished the inning, but he did not return for the seventh.
"The comebacker, the one that came off of Happ, that's what it was," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "We'll see. Day to day."
entered the game as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the seventh. Martin starts the bulk of the games behind the plate anyway, but Montero's injury could mean the Blue Jays will have to call up either Raffy Lopez or Mike Ohlman.
Toronto does have an off-day on Thursday before the club opens a three-game series in Houston on Friday night. That will buy Montero at least a couple more days before the Blue Jays need to make a decision on whether a roster move is required.
