Sano holds steady lead at 3B on AL ballot

MINNEAPOLIS -- It's a new week, but Minnesota's holds a commanding lead for his position in the latest American League All-Star update.
In the fourth update, which was released on Tuesday, Sano is the top vote-getter at third base with 1,302,090 votes. of the Indians is a distant second with 891,731 votes. Toronto's Josh Donaldson (810,648), Baltimore's Manny Machado (803,921), and Houston's (688,450) round out the top-five at the hot corner.
Sano, who homered in Tuesday's win over the White Sox, has paced the AL at third base ever since trailing Machado in the first official update. He has a team-best 16 homers and 48 RBIs, to go along with his .559 slugging percentage. Per Fangraphs, his wRC+ (weighted runs created) of 147 is the 17th-best mark in all of baseball. Sano has also been MLB's hardest hitter with an average exit velocity of 96 mph, according to Statcast™

No other Minnesota player is represented in the ballot for the fourth time in as many weeks.

Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
