Minnesota announced Thursday that the club had reinstated Sano from the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Jake Cave to Triple-A Rochester to make room on the 25-man roster.

Sano, who went 6-for-16 (.375) with two home runs, three RBIs and three walks on a five-game rehab assignment with the Red Wings, missed the past 24 games with a left hamstring strain.

The 25-year-old Sano was batting .213/.289/.450 with five homers and 14 RBIs in 20 games prior to landing on the disabled list. The third baseman was an All-Star in 2017, as he set career highs with 112 hits, 75 runs scored, 28 long balls and 77 RBIs in 114 games with Minnesota.

Cave, the Twins' No. 25-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, played in three games for Minnesota and hit a home run in his MLB debut on Saturday vs. the Brewers. The 25-year-old has batted .265/.355/.356 with one homer and 17 RBIs in 35 games for Rochester this season.
