Mike Moustakas hosting foster care program in 2015

KCP&L Partnership with the "Moose Lodge" Allows Foster Children and Their Families to Enjoy a Special Night at Kauffman Stadium

The Kansas City Royals and KCP&L, together with third baseman Mike Moustakas, are proud to host foster care families to select games throughout the season through the new "Moose Lodge" program.

The third baseman is hosting 250 children and their families who are part of local foster care programs at five Royals home games this season. Each child receives complimentary tickets in section 206, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and gift bag, courtesy of KCP&L, and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. In addition, the children participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas prior to the game.

"I'm excited to host the Moose Lodge at 'The K' this season," said Moustakas. "And I hope to bring some awareness to help find these special kids a more permanent lodge of their own."

In addition to treating the kids to a baseball game, the ultimate goal of the program is to continue to raise visibility about the thousands of local foster children in need of homes and the opportunity for families to serve as foster families. Children associated with KVC Behavioral Healthcare, Inc., Cornerstones of Care and Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association will participate in the program throughout the season.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with the Royals, Mike and area foster care organizations to continue this remarkable program that shines a light on the foster care system and, more specifically, the children and families affected by such a major life transition," said Chuck Caisley, KCP&L vice president of Marketing and Public Affairs. "KCP&L continually supports endeavors where the focus is on the children of our community, and this program gives foster kids the same chance to go to a baseball game, bond with their caregivers and make childhood memories that other kids in our community enjoy."

The first Moose Lodge event was held on Friday, May 22 when the Royals took on the St. Louis Cardinals. The following is a list of additional Moose Lodge events scheduled for 2015.
