PEORIA, Ariz. -- Daniel Nava and Jefry Marte went deep off Padres starter Andrew Cashner, as the Angels cruised to an 11-2 victory Sunday at Peoria Sports Complex.
Mike Trout opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single that sparked a four-run inning. Andrelton Simmons and Cliff Pennington also drove in runs in the frame.

Cashner, making his final Cactus League start, allowed six runs on six hits and three walks over 3 1/3 frames in his first rocky outing of the spring. He'll get one final tuneup Friday in San Diego in an exhibition against the White Sox.
"I'm ready to get out of Arizona, for sure," Cashner said. "The biggest thing is just getting out of here healthy. I thought my sinker was really good today."
Facing Cashner in the second, Nava launched an opposite-field home run that barely cleared the 385-foot sign for his 18th hit of the spring. Marte, who is battling for the last available bench spot, later tacked on another run with his fourth-inning blast.

Padres first baseman Wil Myers pulled one back with a homer in the bottom of the frame -- the third dinger in the past five games for Myers, who is now riding an eight-game hitting streak.
Melvin Upton Jr. also went deep in the sixth against Angels starter Hector Santiago, who was sharp aside from the two homers. Over five-plus innings, Santiago allowed just those two runs on six hits while striking out five.

The Angels added to their lead with a four-run ninth inning. C.J. Cron and Gregorio Petit delivered RBI singles, while Jett Bandy lined a two-run double to left.
Up next for the Angels: Nick Tropeano makes his first start in 12 days on Monday, opposite righty Kyle Hendricks, when the Angels host the Cubs at Tempe Diablo Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PT on MLB.TV. If Jered Weaver opens the season in the rotation, Tropeano would be competing with Matt Shoemaker for the No. 5 spot. Tropeano gave up six runs on eight hits and a walk in his first 8 2/3 innings this spring and was scratched from his last start because of the flu.
