Mike Trout of the named the Budweiser Presents American League Player of the Month for July

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has been voted the Budweiser Presents American League Player of the Month for July. Budweiser, the official beer sponsor of Major League Baseball and sponsor of 23 of 30 clubs, is also the presenting sponsor of the National League Player of the Month Award.

Trout batted .367 (29-for-79) with 20 runs scored, one double, a triple, 12 home runs, 26 RBI and one stolen base in 21 games to claim his third career AL Player of the Month Award, last winning with the Angels in June 2014. Among his AL counterparts, the 23-year-old finished first in home runs, slugging percentage (.861) and on-base percentage (.462), tied for first in RBI, fourth in runs scored and tied for fifth in batting average. Albert Pujols and Mike Trout are the first pair of Angels teammates to win back-to-back Player of the Month Awards since Bobby Abreu and Kendrys Morales did so in July and August, 2009. Additionally, Trout is the first AL player to win the All-Star Game MVP Award and July's Player of the Month Award in the same season. George Foster of the Cincinnati Reds accomplished this in July 1976 for the National League.

The 2015 Ted Williams Most Valuable Player, presented by Chevrolet, finished the month of July with 12 home runs in only 21 games, tying the MLB record for fewest games played in a month while producing at least a dozen homers. According to the Elias Sports Buraeu, Boog Powell of the Baltimore Orioles (June 1964) and Barry Bonds the San Francisco Giants in (September 2001) are the only other players to accomplish this feat. His 12 homers in July are his most in any month (previously 10 in July 2012) and the most in Angels history for July (previously 11: Don Baylor in his MVP-winning 1979 season & Juan Rivera in his MVP-winning 2006 season). On July 26th, in his 97th game of the season, the four-time AL All-Star logged his 30th home run of the season, the fastest pace in club history. Troy Glaus held the mark in 2000 after it took him 100 games to reach 30 home runs. The 2014 AL MVP is the only Major League player to ever record four 25-home run and 10-stolen base campaigns before his age-24 season. Entering play today, the Millville, New Jersey native leads the Majors with 32 round-trippers. Led by the 2012 AL Rookie of the Year Award winner, Los Angeles recorded its 12th consecutive full month at a .500 record or better, the second-longest streak in franchise history (15 straight from July 2006 through September 2008). It is also the second-longest active streak in MLB behind the St. Louis Cardinals' 19 straight months.

Others receiving votes included Melky Cabrera (.369, 16 R, 13 2B, 23 RBI) of the Chicago White Sox; Josh Donaldson (.287, 9 2B, 7 HR, 24 RBI) of the Toronto Blue Jays; Lorenzo Cain (.367, 22 R, 8 2B, 5 HR) and Eric Hosmer (.385, 17 R, 7 2B, 15 RBI) of the Kansas City Royals; Mark Teixeira (.333, 17 R, 9 HR, 19 RBI) of the New York Yankees; and J.D. Martinez (.320, 21 R, 8 HR, 20 RBI) of the Detroit Tigers The Budweiser Presents American League Player of the Month, Mike Trout, will receive a specially designed trophy, suitably engraved, for his accomplishment.
