Miller undegoes X-rays on ailing left foot

ANAHEIM -- It was hard enough for the Red Sox to lose, 9-7, to the Angels on Saturday night in a game they led by four runs with two outs in the ninth, but they hope they didn't suffer a more significant loss.

Lefty reliever Andrew Miller, who has been invaluable for Boston all season, had to leave the game with an injured foot in the bottom of the seventh.

Miller was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, results of which likely won't be revealed until Sunday.

The injury happened when Miller, after giving up a single to J.B. Shuck, tripped while going to cover home.

Miller was in severe pain when he walked off the mound and had to be helped to the clubhouse by teammates.

In the less serious department, right fielder Shane Victorino had to leave the game with left hamstring tightness. Victorino might have sustained the injury while legging out a triple in the sixth. He left the game in the top of the ninth.

As for Miller, the Red Sox can only hope he didn't suffer a fracture.

"It's the top of the foot," said manager John Farrell. "It's not the Achilles. Until we have results from the X-rays he's undergoing right now, will have more of a report for you. I can't even speculate."
