Arcia out Thursday, but feels left wrist is improving

DETROIT -- Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia took batting practice in the cages before Thursday's game against the Tigers and reported that he's making progress with his injured left wrist.

Arcia, who injured his wrist diving for a ball last week and was held out of the lineup for a third straight game on Thursday, said he only felt soreness on a few swings.

"It's better," said Arcia, who was carefully monitored by team trainer Dave Pruemer and hitting coach Tom Brunansky. "When I tried to pull the ball, there is a little pain."

Arcia will continue to be evaluated, but said he expects to avoid the 15-day disabled list. But if he's deemed unready to play on Friday, he could still be placed on the DL because the Twins' bench is thin, as they're carrying 13 pitchers.
