SAN FRANCISCO -- A familiar, ongoing streak will continue for the Giants, according to the tentative 2017 schedule released Wednesday. They will open the regular season at Arizona on Sunday, April 2, marking their eighth consecutive year to start the 162-game slate away from home.
The Giants will begin the season in Arizona for the fourth time since 2012.
In a quirk usually reserved for Midwest and East Coast teams that might encounter rainouts, the season opener at Arizona's retractable-roofed Chase Field is immediately followed by a scheduled off-day on Monday. Following the resumption of that four-game series, coupled with a three-game set at San Diego April 7-9, the Giants will play their AT&T Park home opener on Monday, April 10 against Arizona.

As usual, the Giants will play 19 games apiece against their National League West rivals -- Arizona, Colorado, Los Angeles and San Diego. The highest-profile dates among that group are the Dodgers' visits to San Francisco, slated for April 24-27, May 15-17 and Sept. 11-13.
The two-game, home-and-home series against the cross-bay rival A's are scheduled for July 31-Aug. 1 (at Oakland) and Aug. 2-3 (at San Francisco).
The Giants' chief Interleague opponents will be AL Central foes. They'll face 2014 World Series foe Kansas City in a two-game, home-and-home series April 18-19 (at Kansas City) and June 13-14 (at AT&T Park). The Giants also will entertain Minnesota (June 9-11) and Cleveland (July 17-19), as well as visit Detroit (July 4-6) and the Chicago White Sox (Sept. 8-10).
San Francisco's longest homestand, a 10-game sequence against Cleveland, San Diego and Pittsburgh, will unfold July 17-26. That's tucked into a favorable stretch featuring 18 of 23 games at home July 17-Aug. 9.
The Giants play three holiday or special day games at home: Easter Sunday, April 16 against Colorado; Mother's Day, May 14 against Cincinnati; and Memorial Day, May 29 against Washington.
San Francisco's September schedule is mildly odd -- not necessarily because of the 14 home games and 12 road games, but because of the five scheduled off-days.
The Giants finish the season Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at home against San Diego.
