Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association have issued statements regarding the potential impact of the Zika virus on the games between the Pirates and Marlins scheduled to be played in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on May 30-31.
"We believe the games will be played as scheduled, and we are having ongoing conversations with the CDC to alleviate the players' concerns," MLB said in a statement.
The union shared the stance in its statement.
"The Major League Baseball Players Association continues to have ongoing discussions with the Commissioner's Office and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in advance of [these] games," said the union.
"The health and safety of our members and their families are our primary concerns, and we have a responsibility to gather as much information as possible from the top scientific experts in the field.
"The MLBPA will have no further comment on this matter at this time."
