The Pirates and Yankees played one of the most memorable World Series ever in October 1960, and the image of Bill Mazeroski winning Game 7 for Pittsburgh with a walk-off homer persists in baseball lore to this day.
But the two teams have played just 12 games against one another in the 57 years since, meaning their matchup tonight doesn't take place very often. The lack of history also makes their series opener in Pittsburgh the highlight of Major League Baseball's full slate tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at PNC Park.
Carsten Sabathia (2-0, 1.47 ERA) and the red-hot Yankees have surprised nearly everyone so far in the early goings of 2017. Tyler Glasnow starts for the Pirates, looking to cash in on the promise that made him a top prospect. Glasnow (0-1, 12.15 ERA), though, has struggled so far this season.
The Yankees and Pirates previously met in 2008 at PNC Park.

Of all the intriguing division matchups set for tonight (and there are many), Nationals-Mets at Citi Field tops the "must-see" list. These two rivals -- and last two National League East champions -- face off for the first time in 2017 at a ballpark that's hosted some of the most intense games in its history with the Nats on the field. The Nationals hold a two-game advantage over the Mets, dating back to 2015.

Washington is red-hot right now, with Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy and Ryan Zimmerman all flirting with or hitting over .400. But they're about to run into a hot pitcher in Mets righty Jacob deGrom. Though winless, deGrom owns a 1.89 ERA over three starts, with more strikeouts than innings pitched. He did not face the Nationals last season.
JBJ back: BOS @ BAL, 7:05 p.m.
Another tantalizing division matchup pits two 2016 postseason teams against one another. Look for Boston center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. to be back in the lineup as he returns from a sprained right knee.

The Sox and Orioles split a two-game series last week at Fenway Park that produced a combined 26 runs scored.
Who's in first? CHC @ CIN, 7:10 p.m.
The Reds are the darlings of the early season, sitting atop the NL Central after two-plus weeks to the surprise of many. The reigning champion Cubs stumbled a bit out of the gate, losing four in a row at one point earlier this week. But they seem to have rediscovered a bit of their mojo following Addison Russell's walk-off homer Wednesday, which sent Wrigley Field into a frenzy.

Chicago went 15-4 against Cincinnati last season, so the Reds have their work cut out for them if they want to remain atop the division.
Kluber vs. Quintana: CLE @ CWS, 8:10 p.m.
The most captivating pitching matchup of the night comes from Chicago, where Corey Kluber and Jose Quintana will meet once again. The two aces have faced each other five times since 2014, when Kluber won the American League Cy Young Award. Cleveland has won three of those games.

Neither Kluber nor Quintana has found much success so far in 2017. After leading the Indians to the World Series last fall, Kluber has stumbled to a 6.38 ERA out of the gate. Quintana excelled in the World Baseball Classic, but he is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA for the White Sox.
