BOSTON -- The Red Sox are currently on pace to represent nearly half of the American League's starting lineup at the July 12 All-Star Game in San Diego.
Mookie Betts was Boston's latest player to climb the charts, moving into third place among AL outfielders with 1,435,218 votes. Jackie Bradley Jr. is in second place with 1,725,672 votes, meaning that the Red Sox could have two-thirds of the starting outfield in San Diego along with Angels star Mike Trout, who leads the pack with 2,324,597 votes.

However, Baltimore's Mark Trumbo (1,408,195) and Kansas City's Lorenzo Cain (1,403,617) are both within striking distance of Betts as voting goes down to what should be a thrilling final stretch.
Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, who is having a monster final season, has a commanding lead at his position with 2,612,215 votes, more than doubling current runner-up Kendrys Morales (861,030).
Shortstop Xander Bogaerts (2,116,020) makes it four Boston players to lead his position, leading Alcides Escobar (1,150,576).
It would be particularly meaningful for Bogaerts to be an All-Star this year after narrowly missing out a year ago.
"It is always appreciated to see the support from fans," said Bogaerts. "I just try to go out there and do something good every day."

Brock Holt was the lone All-Star for the eventual last-place Red Sox last year, which makes manager John Farrell appreciate even more how much respect his players are currently getting from voters.
"And deservedly so," Farrell said. "I think it's great that there's acknowledgment outwardly from the performance. I think the thing that stands out to me most is that our guys are most focused on our team, not what they're doing individually. They embrace our team."
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is also off to a strong start and ranks third at his position with 868,746 votes. Houston's Jose Altuve and Seattle's Robinson Cano are currently rank first and second, respectively.
Hanley Ramirez has made a nice transition to first base this season, and he is fourth at that position.
