Moustakas may sit out Twins series with strep

MINNEAPOLIS -- Third baseman Mike Moustakas, stricken by strep throat, was out of the Royals' lineup again Wednesday night and expected to sit out Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Twins as well.

"He looks better; he'll be available to pinch-hit tonight if I need him," manager Ned Yost said Wednesday. "It's a quick turnaround [for Thursday] and a very, very hot day. Strep throat can really sap you to begin with, and we'll probably wait until we get to Toronto and it's a little more-climate controlled."

Toronto has a retractable roof.

Moustakas missed Tuesday night's series opener because of his illness. He has also been battling a calf problem since Aug. 12, playing in just six games since then.
