National Baseball Hall of Fame displays D-backs' rich history
Gates to Chase Field open early this Sunday for fans to watch Randy Johnson's speech live on dbTV
When Randy Johnson's plaque is placed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y., featuring the cap of the Arizona Diamondbacks, it will mark the first such plaque in the Hall of Fame gallery. Additionally, each of the inductees for the Class of 2015 - Johnson, Craig Biggio, Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz - will have his own display on the first floor of the Museum through May 2016.
However, the hallowed and historic halls have numerous D-backs-related items on display and in its archives.
Among the notable D-backs artifacts in Cooperstown are:
- Bat used by Luis Gonzalez to deliver the game-winning hit in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series
- Caps worn by Co-MVPs Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling during the 2001 World Series
- Game-used jersey worn on July 20, 2015 and broken bat used on May 24, 2015 from All-Star Paul Goldschmidt
- Spikes worn by Aaron Hill on June 29, 2012, when he hit for the cycle for the second time in that season
- Game-used baseball and base from the inaugural game played at Salt River Fields on Feb. 26, 2011 - the first-ever game played in a complex on Native American land
- Game-used 2015 All-Star bat and jersey worn on July 20, 2015 from outfielder A.J. Pollock
- Baseball from Randy Johnson's perfect game on May 18, 2004, and 20-strikeout game on May 8, 2001
- Stars and stripes jersey worn on the 4th of July (2015) by Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomás
- Spikes worn by Wade Miley during the 2014 MLB Opening Series in Sydney, Australia
- Jersey worn by Randy Johnson in 2002 to record his MLB record-setting fourth consecutive 300-strikeout season
- 2001 World Series Champions towel
- Program from the first franchise game played on March 31, 1998
The 2015 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. ET this Sunday at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown and will be shown live on MLB Network. Admission to the Induction Ceremony is free.
