Pipeline Preview: Stevenson continues to heat up for Syracuse

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Andrew Stevenson (Nationals' No. 5), Syracuse vs Lehigh Valley (1:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Stevenson's introduction to Triple-A baseball has been rough, but the 23-year-old is heating up offensively. After hitting .350 in 20 games with Double-A Harrisburg, Stevenson was promoted to Syracuse, where he is batting .234 through 41 games. While that .234 average isn't where Stevenson would like it to be, he was just under .200 a couple days ago, but has boosted his average with seven hits in his past eight at-bats, including a 4-for-4 effort on Saturday.

Pitcher to watch: Nick Neidert (Mariners' No. 3), Modesto vs. Inland Empire (5:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
After starting the season 5-0, Neidert has dropped three straight decisions in June, allowing nine runs over 16 2/3 innings. However, on a positive note, Neidert hasn't walked a batter in four of his past five outings and has continued to pile up the strikeouts, including a season-high 11 on June 8.

Duel of the Day: (White Sox No. 5) vs. Tyler Eppler (Pirates' No. 24), Charlotte vs. Indianapolis (2:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Lopez, the No. 38 overall prospect, has bounced back after his worst start of the season on May 26. The 23-year-old has given up four earned runs over his past two starts, a total of 13 innings, and is 5-3 with a 3.82 ERA this season. Lopez has also had strong command over his past two outings, recording seven strikeouts as opposed to just two walks.

Eppler got off to a fast start this season, posting nothing but zeros over his first two outings. While his scoreless streak has ended, the righty has continued to throw the ball well, posting a 5-2 record with a 3.22 ERA through 12 games (11 starts).
