Washington Nationals Dream Foundation celebrates a "Decade Of Dreams" at 2015 Dream Gala

Last night at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation highlighted its community contributions at the 10th annual Dream Gala. As the primary fundraiser for the Nationals Dream Foundation, the 2015 Dream Gala netted more than $600,000 for the Foundation's three cornerstone programs which focus on children's health, education and recreation.

The Dream Gala featured a cocktail reception and silent auction, a dinner program emceed by MSNBC television host Alex Wagner and a live auction hosted by Nationals broadcasters Charlie Slowes and Dave Jageler. The Marriott Marquis Washington, DC served as the event's presenting sponsor. Diamond Sponsors included the Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Foundation, the Abramson Family Foundation and Gary & Pennie Abramson Charitable Foundation. Field of Dream Sponsors included Cushman & Wakefield, the Donahue/Dahlberg Family, Double Wood Farm and the Wagner Family.

The Dream Foundation's programs include:

  • The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy: In partnership with the District of Columbia, the Academy uses baseball and softball as vehicles to promote positive character development, academic achievement and improved health among at-risk youth in Wards 7 and 8. Located in Ward 7's Fort Dupont Park, this unique facility opened in March 2014, and includes three baseball fields, classrooms, a teaching kitchen and an indoor fitness area.
  • The Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children's National Medical Center: This world-class facility opened its doors in June 2013, and offers a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting children with diabetes and their families. With state-of-the-art treatment rooms and a multi-functional education center, the facility houses various resources to empower families battling diabetes.
  • The Neighborhood Initiative: Grants and in-kind donations are awarded to local nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving the neighborhoods surrounding Nationals Park and beyond.
